When you search for facts about Fins, one thing that is on top of the list is the punctuality of Finnish people. Everyone says that if you’ll make an appointment at 10:00 a.m., the person will be there exactly at 10:00 or earlier. I don’t know if the Turku University of Applied Sciences is a special exception, but it doesn’t work that way here. If the lesson is supposed to start at 8:15 a.m. the teacher will arrive at 8:35 a.m. This is not really pleasant if you’ve left your bed early for this.
Also with other appointments the teachers always arrive a few minutes late. Then they also have to start up their laptop and look up the material.
If definitely doesn’t work that way at my school in the Netherlands. Teachers ensure that they’re at least 5 minutes in advance in the classroom and that is actually late. They are usually there half an hour in advance to prepare everything.
