Now the theoretical part of cultures will be highlighted. The first theory that will be highlighted is the theory of Hofstede. Hofstede created a model with 5 dimension which should help to overcome these differences during intercultural communication between different cultures.
I chose the dimension power distance. This indicates the power distance/inequality in the culture. This can be between parent and child, boss and employee or men and women.
In the Netherlands, feminism is quite a big theme. It isn’t highlighted particularly everywhere, but women have the same jobs as men, they want to earn the same money as men and there’s not everywhere a traditional division of roles in families between men and women anymore.
In Finland, women enjoy a high degree of equality and traditional courtesy among men. There are many women who hold prominent positions in Finnish society.
Both the Netherlands and Finland can be seen as feminism cultures.
