It’s really weird to be in Finland in November and to not see the Saint Nicolas stuff. They just sell Christmas stuff in here from November.
Let me tell you what Saint Nicolas is, because it’s a Dutch tradition.
Saint Nicolas (Sinterklaas in Dutch) is a different version of Santa Claus. Saint Nicolas lives in Spain and each year in November he comes to the Netherlands with his helpers by boat. He comes with his horse Americo. Every child can place his or her shoe in front of the chimney and then the helpers of Saint Nicolas will walk over the rooftops and then into the chimney to put a present in the shoe of the child.
And on the 5th of December, the helpers will bring all the presents to the families and everyone will receive presents that were on his or her wish list.
It’s a really big event in the Netherlands.
