Hospitality church

Every week I go to the church in Turku. I don’t really know how to explain what kind of church it is, but it’s called the greater grace church. I wanted to write a blog about the hospitality of the people in the churches here, because it’s really special. The most Finnish people are quite reserved at first sight, and they’ll only take part in a conversation when you’re the person who starts to talk.
The first Sunday we were here, we went to the main cathedral for an international service. The people there were really kind. They showed us were the booklets were, how the service would be etc. They also invited us to drink coffee with them after the service. They really made us feel welcome.
This was also the case in another church we went to.
Then we went to the greater grace church, and wow, I’ve never felt so welcome! I can’t really tell what the difference was between the other churches, but there really was a difference. They invited us to have lunch with them, and to join the events they had planned. They translate the service for us every single week, while that takes some effort.
They also discovered that I play the guitar, and they asked me to play in the band. I was so happy with this!
When I talk about them, I just feel a warm feeling inside. These people really have a place in my heart. I also think that they’ll be the people I’m going to miss the most when I’m not in Finland anymore.
