Dutch food

Dutch food. When I think with the Dutchies who are here about typically Dutch food, we don’t really come up with something. We thought that stroopwafels were Dutch, but they also sell them here in the stores. We also thought that liquorice was Dutch, but they may even have more flavors in here.

What about mashed potatoes with vegetables and (something like) meat? Nope, it’s also a Finnish thing to eat that.

But then we figured some things out! For example, frikandellen and bitterballen. There’s no English translation for it, so I think that says enough! This are snacks that can be bought in a snack bar, which you’ll find everywhere in the Netherlands.

We also have poffertjes. This are small pancakes with powder sugar and butter. This can be bought at almost every market. By the way, it’s really fun to watch a video about how they’re making these poffertjes. It’s a real skill.

Eating fries with mayonnaise also seems to be a little bit weird. So that’s also a Dutch ‘thing’.

If you come up with something else, let me know!
