Russia, the country everybody knows. Dark, cold, neglected houses, bad roads, unkind people, leather jackets. That were the prejudices I had about Russia. Because get what, I’ve been to Russia! I never expected that I’d go to Russia that soon. I always wanted to go there and there was even a time that I wanted to learn Russian, but I never thought that I’d actually go there this year.
I’ve been to Saint Petersburg, which is such a beautiful city. The buildings are quite colorful and the streets are spacious. Also, the museums, cathedrals and palaces are beautiful to see.
The only thing that was a little bit difficult was that almost none of the Russian people spoke English. Not even the people from my age. We asked the way a couple times, but no one could lead us the way. But on the other hand, the people really wanted to help! They looked up google translate on their phones and they made clear with gestures that we had to translate it on their phone. When they figured out what we mentioned, they’d show us what we asked. They even gave us more information then we wanted, so kind!
